We are currently looking to recruit the following positions:
Manufacturing Technician
About the Role
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Production Engineering Department. The role is a permanent position, based at Reliance Precision Limited Bandon, County Cork.
The Manufacturing Technician supports day-to-day machining operations by handling more advanced tasks than a Machinist. This includes setting up complex jobs, supporting other machinists during changeovers or issues, checking parts to higher standards, and keeping machines running effectively. The role combines hands-on machining skills with responsibility for maintaining workflow, assisting with troubleshooting, and ensuring quality is upheld on the shop floor.
A Manufacturing Technician must maintain a strong commitment to the company’s blue book principles; they must respect the current procedures and policies in place and adopt a flexible approach to adopting new manufacturing techniques and developments.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates manual or CNC machines for more complex or precision-critical jobs.
- Assists machinists with setups, tool changes, and machine adjustments when needed and supports training of others as required.
- Works closely with tool setters, engineers, or production staff to ensure jobs are ready and tooling is correct.
- Maintains accurate records of production activities, scrap, and downtime.
- Ensures workstations and machines are kept clean, safe, and well-organised.
- Acts as a point of contact for less experienced machinists when problems arise.
- Adheres to and promotes safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Interprets engineering drawings, CAD models, and job cards to determine machining requirements.
- Selects, installs, and offsets appropriate tools and fixtures for each operation.
- Loads raw materials and monitors machining operations, ensuring parts conform to specification.
- Inspects first-off and in-process components using calibrated measuring equipment.
- Adjusts feeds, speeds, and offsets to optimize part quality and cycle time.
- Maintains consistent production output while minimizing scrap, rework, and downtime.
- Completes all necessary documentation, including inspection reports, production logs, and quality records.
- Performs basic machine maintenance and reports equipment issues to engineering or maintenance teams.
- Adheres to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company procedures.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities and supports lean manufacturing initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience in a hands-on manufacturing or machining environment.
- Familiarity with manual or CNC machines and proven ability to adjust/edit NC programs.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and cutting conditions.
- Manual or CNC machine setting
- Manual inspection
- Process adherence
Desirable:
- Knowledge or experience of working in a regulated industry
- Cross disciplined exposure in one or more of the following (Turn-mill centres, turning, milling, grinding, gear cutting, EDM)
- Zoller/EZ Set/manual tool setting experience
- Fanuc and/or Heidenhein experience
- Operating CMM’s and interpreting results
- ISO programming
- Knowledge of 5S
- manual machining
- Knowledge of certification standards such as ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001
Desirable Personal Skills
- Time-served apprenticeship with relevant technical qualifications; or time-served
- Good problem-solving skills with awareness of problem-solving techniques.
- Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks
- The individual should enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic and results orientated team environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work cross-functionally and with global teams
- Good time management skills
Hours of Work
Permanent Contract
Full time Position
40 hours per week, shift work.
